Felt
This hat is coming out
of the 1920's cloche hat era. To make this hat follow the felt
cloche hat instructions above. When you are ready to tie it down,
make sure the tie is located where the crown and the brim would
bend. Let dry to shape. You will cut this brim to the desired width.

Remember to cut it
smooth. This is the edge of the brim. The hat above has the widest
brim. The previous hat seems to have a dip where the crown and brim
come together. Use a tack pin to pull your tie down into a point
while drying to form the dip. |
Fabric
Use double weight
buckram
from a millinery store. Cut a piece larger than needed. Wet buckram
and shape on your head. This is an oval
shape. Front to back. When dry, cut back piece out. Cover with
fashion fabric. Add feathers and
rhinestones. |
Felt
This is very similar to the
felt cloche hats. Follow
instructions from above.
Add trim, feathers, and netting. For the back, cut 1" wide felt
strips for the
bow pieces. Trim and then
attach. |
Fabric
Start with a piece of
buckram about 7" diameter. Dampen and
shape to top of head.
When dry, cover with
velvet. Add lining to help
keep it's shape. Trim with ribbon, netting and
feathers. This hat has an
elastic string for the back
of your head to help hold
it on. |
Fabric
Top circle of fashion fabric
is about 9" diameter. Wire the edge of the crown circle. The lower piece is a long straight piece of
fabric gathered to fit the top circle. I would use heavy
iron on interfacing to help
hold the shape. Gather bottom edge with heavy gauge thread. Wire the
bottom edge.
Stabilize with a lining. |

the side. |
